  1. Starting this September, the government will introduce a health insurance scheme dedicated to transgender (TG) people. Verified beneficiaries would get ‘Ayushman Bharat TG Plus Card.’ The package will cover hormone therapies and gender re-affirmation surgeries. 
  2. The Tamil Nadu government has issued a government order (GO) listing a glossary of terms to identify themselves under various categories of the LGBTQIA+ community. On insistence from the Madras HC, the TN government has made these names published in the gazette mandatory across all forums.

  8. The Tomato flu, first reported in Kerala’s Kollam district on May 6, is now spreading in Haryana and Odisha. The flu is a variant of the Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD), and it causes tomato-shaped blisters in the body, in addition to fever, rashes, and joint pain.
