  1. The Women’s Reservation Bill has become a law, with President Droupadi Murmu giving her assent today. Earlier, the bill passed through both houses of the Parliament.
  2. The Law Commission has advised the govt not to alter the minimum age of consent, currently under the POCSO Act. However, the panel has said it would offer “guided judicial discretion” in cases that involve tacit approval by children aged between 16 and 18.

  8. Madras HC has upheld the convictions against hundreds of govt officials, including Forest personnel, Police, and Revenue officials, in the 30-year-old Vachathi case.   9. MD and CEO of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank (TMB) has resigned from his post after the bank mistakenly transferred Rs.9k crore into a cab driver’s account in Chennai. However, Mr. Krishnan has cited personal reasons for resigning.
  10. Speaking at an event in Washington DC, EAM S Jaishankar said, “The world is badly in need of some form of re-globalisation.” He also reiterated that the absence of India and the African continent at the UN Security Council fails to “reflect the ground realities of the 21st century.”
