  1. In Bengaluru, 200 protestors attempting to march towards Raj Bhavan, violating prohibitory orders, were taken into custody. The administration declared a local holiday for educational institutions. Many MNCs opted to work from home. Shops other than those providing essentials were closed.
  2. After Moody’s Investors Service questioned the reliability of Aadhaar, its security, and safeguards, UIDAI has trashed them as baseless claims and asserted that over a billion Indians had utilized Aadhaar more than 100 billion times to authenticate themselves in the past decade.
  3. In Manipur, photos of two dead students, Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthoinggambi (17), the man decapitated, have gone viral after the mobile internet ban in the state was lifted. The two went missing on July 6 and remained untraced. The case has been handed over to the CBI.
  4. In a major heist at a jewelry shop in Delhi’s Bhogal area, jewels worth Rs. 20-25 crore have been stolen. Shop owner Sanjeev Jain found the shop looted when he opened it Tuesday morning after closing it on Sunday. Forensic experts were pressed into service.
  5. A brave 12-year-old boy, Mursalin Seikh, son of a migrant laborer from West Bengal’s Malda, averted a major rail mishap on September 21, 2023. Noticing a portion of the track damaged by rain, Mursalin waved his red T-shirt to grab the attention of the loco pilot of the Kanchanjunga Express. Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has rewarded the boy for his valor.

The Supreme Court heard its first case presented by a deaf and mute lawyer, Ms. Sara Sunny, using sign language through her interpreter Saurabh Roy Choudhary and arranged by advocate-on-record Sanchita Ain. The virtual proceedings saw Ms. Sunny and Mr. Choudhary appearing on the screen to place their arguments on CJI Chandrachud’s instructions.
  7. Army Jawan Shine Kumar, who faked an attack and got himself inked ‘PFI’ on the back, was arrested after a Police investigation revealed that the complaint was false. His friend Joshy confessed to helping him as he staged the assault to become “famous.”
  8. External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday said in his speech at the 78th UNGA, “Political convenience determines responses to terrorism, extremism, and violence. Similarly, respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs cannot be exercised in cherry-picking.”
  9. Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, built at a cost of Rs. 1800 crore, will likely have its consecration ceremony on January 22, said Ram Temple Construction Committee chairperson Nripendra Mishra. The Ram Temple could feature in BJP’s poll promotion for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
  10. India’s private sector defense firms will get to supply arms worth Rs. 60000 crore to the Ministry of Defense during FY24 and FY25. It’s 22% of the total Rs.2.75 trillion opening up for Indian Defense entities as the government wants to minimize import dependence on military hardware.
