1. SC hears appeals against the remission of convicts in the Bilkis Bano case: The Supreme Court has given two weeks to the Gujarat government to submit the entire record of proceedings in the Bilkis Bano case, also the state’s remission order that set all the eleven convicts free.

2. Journalist Siddique Kappan gets bail from SC: Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan was given bail by the SC on Friday. Kappan was arrested by the UP Police about two years back when he was traveling to cover the Hathras gang rape and murder. 

3. Houses that went under deluge in Bengaluru face a new problem: The Bengaluru urban flooding has left electricity infrastructure in many households requiring an expensive overhaul. According to experts, individual houses may have to shell out Rs. 7 Lakh, and apartment complexes Rs.50 Lakh to fix their electricity infrastructure to prevent electrocution in the future. 

4. Bangalore University students say no to building a temple within the campus: Students at Bangalore University have protested against building a Ganesha temple inside the university premises, saying it could affect the “academic environment.” They complained that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is raising the temple by encroaching on the university lands. 

5. Government announces mourning for Queen Elizabeth II: India has announced state mourning on September 11, in a mark of respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on Thursday. A notification sent to the states and UTs said that the national flag would flow at half-mast and there would be no official entertainment event on the day. 

6. Raj government introduces 100 days urban employment scheme: The Rajasthan Government has launched a 100 days guaranteed urban employment scheme. Kickstarting the ‘Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme’ at Jaipur, CM Ashok Gehlot said the government has set aside Rs.800 crore for the plan.

7. Nirmala Sitharaman ropes in RBI to target illegal loan Apps: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has directed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to work on a Whitelist of Approved Platforms that can be permitted on App stores. The move comes amid a multiagency probe into illegal loans that lure people with instant loans at exorbitant interest rates. 

8. TaMo to launch Tiago Green EV: Tata Motors is expected to launch India’s most affordable Electric Vehicle (EV), Tiago Green, this Diwali. The car could be priced below 10 Lakh, setting the stage for Tata Motors’ mainstream intervention in the EV market. 

9. India’s forex reserves fall to a 23-month low: Data released by RBI has shown that India’s forex reserves, as on September 2, have fallen by $7.9 billion and stood at $553.1 billion, the lowest in 23 months. 

10. Russia’s decision to halt gas to Europe could impact the global economy: Russia halting gas supplies to Europe could have some global economic consequences in addition to Europe facing a challenging winter. Meantime, the US has accused Russia of weaponizing energy but said it would work around ways to meet Europes’s demand for natural gas through alternate sources.
