  • Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir today foiled an infiltration attempt along the LoC at the Macchil sector in the Kupwara district. According to sources five LeT terrorists have been neutralized thus far and the operation is still under way. 
  • Israel has asked India to designate Hamas as a terrorist organization. Israel’s Ambassador to India Naor Gilon, who thanked India for its 100 percent support for its anti-terrorism ops against Hamas, said it was time to officially designate Hamas as a terror organization.
  • Eight former Indian Navy personnel, working at Al Dahra company in Qatar, have been awarded the death penalty. They have been in detention since last August. The Indian government said it will look at all possible legal options to secure their release. 
  • In an attempt to persuade more eligible voters to step out and cast their votes, the Election Commission of India has appointed Bollywood Actor Rajkummar Rao as a ‘National Icon’. EC plans to bring more prominent personalities as ‘national icons’ ahead of the 2024 Loksabha polls. 
  • Citing post-Second World War Japan and Germany, Infosys Founder Narayana Murthy said to enhance India’s productivity, youngsters must be willing to work 70 hours a week. He was in conversation with former Infosys CEO Mohandas Pai in the first episode of the podcast ‘The Record’. 
  • The Center has called labeling every seat of a flight as ‘paid’ despite the claim of ‘free mandatory web check-in’ an unfair trade practice. Consumer Affairs secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said airlines and aggregators use their web interfaces to manipulate consumer decision-making and called such tactics ‘dark pattern’. 
  • Maines’s Lewiston city in the US witnessed multiple shootings on Wednesday, killing at least 16 people and injuring over 50 people. Police have identified 40-year-old Robert Card as a person of interest and warned that Card must be considered armed and dangerous.
