  • India has sent humanitarian aid to war-hit Gaza. IAF C-17 flight, with 38.5 tonnes of medical and disaster relief materials, is on its way to El-Arish airport in Egypt. Egyptian Red Crescent will move the aid material to Gaza via the Rafah Crossing point. 
  • As Air Quality worsens in the Delhi-NCR region, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked GRAP -II measures to combat pollution. The slew of measures includes avoiding dust-generating construction activities, no open burning of solid waste and biomass, and use of dust suppressants and vacuum sweeping. 
  • Paying homage to Police personnel on Police Commemoration Day, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah said 188 cops laid down their lives while maintaining law and order in the country. Since independence, 36,250 police personnel have died while serving the nation.  
  • Agniveer (Operator) Gawate Akshay Laxman, deployed in what’s popularly called the world’s highest battlefield, Siachen glacier, laid down his life during the line of duty. Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps, with its headquarters in Leh, paid tributes to the soldier and condolences to his family. 
  • Paytm plans to add 1.5 million offline point-of-sale devices, including sound boxes and card payment machines, every quarter for the next 1.5-2 years. According to RBI data, 79 lakh PoS devices are in use in India, as of May 2023. 
  • 17-year-old boy Veer Shah died while playing Garba at a Navratri celebration in Kapadvanj Kheda district due to sudden cardiac arrest. His grieving father, Ripal Shah, sought children to be careful while playing Garba without rest. At least ten heart attack deaths were reported in the last 24 hours at various garba events in Gujarat.   
  • An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck Nepal’s Dhading district at 7:39 a.m. today. Tremors were felt in the districts of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. No death or damage to property due to the tremor was reported. 
  • Saudi Prince Turki Al Faisal, former Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the U.S., has slammed the ongoing military conflict between Israel-Hamas, saying “no heroes in this conflict, only victims.” He even quoted how the British empire was brought down in India, to say he supports civil insurrection and disobedience rather than a military option in Palestine.
  • Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is back home after his self-exile, has claimed that in 1999, his government was offered USD 5 billion by then-US President Bill Clinton to not carry out a nuclear test in response to India’s atomic tests. 
  • Dawood Malik, the founder of Laskhar-e-Jabar and a terrorist involved in anti-India activities was killed at a private clinic in North Waziristan by unknown assailants. Malik was also a close aide of Maulana Mazoor Azhar — India’s most wanted terrorist.
