- On the birth anniversary of MK Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, political leaders across the nation have paid their tributes. A UNGA resolution adopted in 2007 marks October 2 as the International Day of Non-violence.
- Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that no member of the Gandhi family is willing to fight in the Presidental poll, all senior and junior leaders of the Congress want him to contest.

- India, China, and Brazil abstained from voting on a UNSC resolution, tabled by the US and Albania, condemning the Russian annexation of parts of Ukraine. The resolution was vetoed by Russia, which is a permanent member of the council.
- In one of the deadliest sports stadium disasters, 174 people died in a stampede during a football match in Indonesia’s Malang. The tragedy unfolded when some 3000 plus angry home fans stormed into the pitch, and police resorted to firing teargas to disperse the crowd.
- Myanmar National Airlines domestic flight was hit by a bullet shot from the ground ahead of its landing at Loikaw. The attack, suspected by the resistance groups, damaged the aircraft’s fuselage and injured a passenger on board.
