  1. India today marked the 154th birth anniversary of Gandhi. Various political party leaders of the country also paid tributes to Lal Bahadur Shashtri, India’s second Prime Minister, on his birth anniversary.
  2. Delhi Police arrested three terror suspects — Mohammed Rizwan Ashraf from UP, and Shahnawaz and Mohammed Arshad Warsi from Jharkhand — in a crackdown on ISIS modules in India. All three were engineers trained in bomb-making and also as “clerics.”
  3. Bihar’s caste-based census data was released today. According to the data, Bihar has a population of over 13 crore people. Of them, 27.13 % belong to the backward class, 36.01% belong to the extremely backward class, and 15.52% come under the General category.
  4. The Karnataka transport minister clarified that carpooling has not been banned in Bengaluru, contrary to the buzz in the media. However, the minister said he would meet carpooling aggregators on Tuesday (Oct 3).

  6. In Kochi, a car plunged into a river “following” GPS instructions. Two young doctors, Advaith and Ajmal, died in the accident, and three others escaped with injuries. Police said they missed a left turn indicated by the maps and went forward into the river due to low visibility.
  7. Some miscreants in Chittorgarh had tried to sabotage the rail track before the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express could pass through. However, the alert driver, who spotted stones, pebbles, and clips on the tracks, immediately stopped the train.
  8. An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 shook Meghalaya at 6.15 pm on Monday. There are no immediate reports of casualty or damage to property. However, neighboring Assam, Sikkim, and Bengal felt the tremor.

  10. ISRO is preparing to launch Mangalyaan -2, after its first successful Mars mission nine years ago. It will carry 4 payloads: a Mars Orbit Dust Experiment (MODEX), a Radio Occultation (RO) experiment, an Energetic Ion Spectrometer (EIS), and a Langmuir Probe and Electric Field Experiment (LPEX).
