  • Operation Ajay’s first flight from Israel carrying 212 Indian citizens arrived at New Delhi today. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar was present at the airport to receive them. Per reports, passengers are airlifted on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
  • The Punjab and Haryana High Court questioned the inactions of the Punjab Police and the State government to curb the drug menace in the state. Underlining the absence of Police personnel to give witness statements, the court said collusion between the Drug mafia and the Police is visible. 
  • A Helium gas balloon explosion at a private school in the Surguja district of Chhattisgarh caused injuries to 33 children. Those filling helium gas into the balloons are getting treated in hospital for serious injuries.  
  • The prima facie report on the Anand Vihar Kamakhya North East Express derailment says the accident could have happened due to faulty tracks. After a severe jolt soon after crossing the Ragunathpur Station, the loco pilot had to apply emergency brakes when the train was moving at 128 kmph speed. 
  • INDIA block has written to social media giants Meta and Google, calling them “culpable” of supporting the communal hatred propaganda of the BJP. The opposition bloc has also urged them to remain neutral and ensure their platforms are not used to cause social unrest.  
  • Responding to reports of a “secret meeting” between EAM Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Melanie Jolie in Washinton DC, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told media, “We have been in touch with Canada at various levels. On any specific interaction, I don’t have any information to share.”
