  1. Weather changes have come as a relief to Delhi-NCR’s air pollution woes. The western disturbance over the Himalayas, the southerly shift in the wind direction, and a minor increase in wind speed have improved air quality in the national capital and adjoining areas marginally.
  2. Aligarh could soon become Harigarh. A resolution to rename Aligarh as Harigarh was passed by the Aligarh Municipal Corporation. The proposal will now be sent to the State Government for its nod. The BJP government in UP has been keen on renaming Mughal-era names.

  6. The first phase of polls in Chattisgarh concluded today. Elections were held for 20 of the state’s 90 assembly seats, including the naxal-prone Bastar division. The second phase of polling in Chattisgarh will happen on November 17.
  7. Polling in Mizoram ended today with 77.32% voter turnout. Some 174 candidates are contesting for the 40-member state assembly in a single phase. Mizo National Front (MNF) and Zoram Peoples’ Movement (ZPM) are the two major political parties in the state.
