Exit Poll Results show a close fight between BJP and Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In Telangana, BRS and Congress are locking horns. In Mizoram, MNF appears to have a slightly better margin of victory.
- Telangana polls concluded today with 64.14% voter turnout. While Bharatiya Rashtriya Samhiti (BRS) Supremo and two-time Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is seeking a third term, Congress and BJP have campaigned hard to topple his aspiration.
- 52-year-old Indian National Nikhil Gupta has been charged by the US Justice Department with murder-for-hire charges. Gupta was arrested by Czech Authorities on June 30 at the behest of the US. Earlier, FT reported an alleged foiled plot to assassinate Khalistani Terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American Soil.
- In India, extreme weather events from January to September this year killed 2,923 people and 92,000 animals, according to a report from the Center for Science and Environment (CSE). The report indicates that the country faced extreme weather events on 86 percent of the days in the said period.
- Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Satellogic have joined hands to co-develop and build Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites in India. A joint press release from the companies says TASL would commission an Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) facility in Karnataka.
- NASA Administrator Bill Nelson is visiting ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Center (URSC) in Bengaluru, where the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Reader (NISAR) satellite is currently under testing. NISAR will be launched in the early half of 2024.
- In Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district, the administration had to call off its proposed auction for quarrying multi-color granite stones in Sikkipatti, Ayyapatti, and Thiruchunai villages near Melur after Environment Activist Mugilan warned of legal steps.
- Initial health assessment on all 41 rescued workers has declared them ‘physically fine.’ However, one of them is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, and two others are from excess dopamine rush, with sleeplessness and high pulse rate. They have been prescribed medicines for a week. All 41 were flown to AIIMS Rishikesh by an IAF Chinook Chopper on Wednesday afternoon.
- A man died hours before his son was rescued from the Silkyara tunnel. A resident of Kunaluka Village in Jharkhand Baset Murmu (65), father of rescued worker Bhuktu (26), died on Tuesday at 8 am, yearning for his son’s rescue from the Uttarakhand Tunnel.
- Chennai suffers severe water logging and heavy traffic disruptions after 5-6 cm of rainfall on Wednesday. Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner Dr. J Radhakrishnan said 15 IAS officers have been deputed, and 16,000 workers, 491 motors, and 150 tractor-borne motors have been deployed to tackle any flood-like situation.
- NDRF teams are on standby in Arakkonam after IMD’s cyclone warning to Chennai. As Chembarambakkam Lake’s storage has gone up to 22.53 feet against its full storage of 24 feet, the Kanchipuram district administration has ordered the discharge from the lake from 2500 cusecs to 6000 cusecs.
