  • The United National Liberation Front (UNLF), the Meitei insurgent group, signed a landmark peace agreement with the Centre in New Delhi today. Founded in 1964 by Arembam Samrendra Singh, UNLF is the oldest armed group operative in the valley. 
  • The Mines Ministry is launching the country’s first-ever auction of mineral blocks today. Twenty blocks of critical and strategic minerals would be put for auction by the Union Minister of Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs Prasad Joshi. 
  • AMD has opened its largest global design center in India’s Tech City, Bengaluru. Spread over 500,000 sq ft, the campus will focus on the Design and Development of semiconductor technology, hiring 3000 engineers in the upcoming years. 
  • NASA Chief Bill Nelson, who is in India to further India-US Space Cooperation, said the US would support training and sending an Indian astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) by the end of 2024. 
  • The central government extends free ration to poor families (Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana) for another five years. Announcing the extension, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said it will cost Rs.11.80 lakh crores to the exchequer. 
  • The SC chided Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan for sitting over bills passed by the state assembly for two years. It said, “The power of the Governor cannot be utilized to pause the law-making exercise of the legislature.”
  • MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi ,said India has set up a high-level committee to probe into allegations of a plot to eliminate Khalistani terrorist and SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil.  
  • Virgin Atlantic Flight VS100 flew from London Heathrow to New York on Tuesday entirely on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) to become the first-ever commercial flight to fly on 100% SAF on a long haul. Virgin Boeing 787 is powered by Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine.
