  • Indian Freedom Fighter, Communist Veteran, and Founding Member of CPI (M), N Sankaraiah (102) died on Wednesday. Sankaraiah joined the freedom movement during his college days. He was jailed in 1941 and was set free only on the eve of Independence in 1947.  
  • IT employee Union NITES has filed a complaint with the Labor Ministry, blaming TCS of indulging in unethical practices. The move by NITES comes as TCS sends transfer notices to 2000 plus employees, asking them to report to their newly assigned locations within 15 days. 
  • In Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, a bus heading from Kishtwar to Jammu fell down a steep slope of 200m, killing 39 passengers and injuring 17 others. J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his condolences to bereaved families. 
  • Amid ongoing rescue efforts at the Tunnel Collapse site on the Yamunotri Highway in Uttarkashi, several workers protested, demanding the secure evacuation of their trapped colleagues. Meanwhile, the rescue team received an American auger drilling machinery to speed up their efforts. 
  • In Delhi, hospitals are witnessing a surge in patients with respiratory issues, persistent coughing, eye irritation, and throat infections amid worsening air pollution. Alongside, in Punjab, Stubble burning incidents in the last two months have crossed the 30,000 mark.  
  • Disposing of petitions on stray dog attacks, the Punjab and Haryana HC has ordered a compensation of Rs.10,000/teeth mark and Rs.20,000/0.2 cm of wound in case flesh comes off, making the state liable for paying the compensation. 
  • The Indian Army is inducting around 500 drones from MIT for high-altitude logistics. Each drone, weighing about 100 kg, can lift loads up to 20 kg. These drones would help send medical aids and essentials to difficult-to-reach terrains in the North East.
