1. China is building military infrastructure along the LAC: A top US General, Charles A Flynn, on Wednesday, said China is rapidly building military infrastructure along its border with India, otherwise called the Line of Actual Control (LAC). He added that though the talks between India and China are helpful, Chinese behavior is destabilizing and corrosive.
2. Medical seats should not go waste, says the Supreme Court: Taking note of the number of Post-Graduate Medical seats that remain unfilled each year, the SC urged the Centre and Medical council to submit an affidavit. The Top court said the country needs more doctors and specialized medical professionals. Incidentally, 1,456 medical seats have remained vacant after the 2021-22 academic year counseling.
3. Sanitizer use linked to early puberty: Researchers at the Pune-based Jehangir hospital have found a link between indiscriminate sanitizer use, pandemic, and lockdown stress, resulting in the early onset of menstruation in women. Children as young as 8-9 were attaining puberty with a 3.6-time surge in the trend.
4. Central Government has hiked the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Kharif crops: The center on Wednesday announced a raise in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the 2022-23 crop year. The increase in MSP is in the range of 5-9%. Oil seeds, notably Soyabean and Sunflower seeds, get an MSP rise of 8.86 and 6.4 percent.

6. Cops seek trial of minors in the Jubillee Hills gang-rape case as adults: The Hyderabad City police have decided to seek trial of all accused in the case, aged around 17, to be tried as adults. DCP D Joel Davis said the police would ask Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) to recommend the same, once the charge sheet in the case is filed
7. Sports Authority of India (SAI) acts against a national coach accused of inappropriate behavior: A leading female cyclist, winner of multiple gold medals, has raised a harassment complaint against her national coach. Following initial inquiries, SAI has ‘prima facie’ found the coach guilty of inappropriate behavior during the team’s training-cum-competition trip to Slovenia. The sports authority has terminated the contract of the coach.
8. Delhi police have registered a case against Nupur Sharma: Suspended BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma has been named in an FIR filed by the Delhi police. The cops said that based on a social media analysis, cases have been registered against Nupur Sharma and other multiple social media entities for trying to disrupt public tranquility and for inciting people.
9. The Election Commission (EC) is likely to announce the election for the next President of India: On July 25, President Ram Nath Kovind will complete his tenure. As per Article 62 of the Indian constitution, the next President must be elected by the time the current President leaves office.
10. Canada revises super-visa rules: Visiting parents and grandparents of Canada’s super-visa holders can now stay in the country for five years, as against the earlier tenure of two years. The new Canadian super-visa rules, coming into force by July 4, are likely to benefit the Indian diaspora in the country.
