1. Sterlite Copper’s Smelter in Tuticorin on sale: Vedanta on Monday said it is selling its Sterlite Copper’s Smelter in Tuticorin. The plant has been a center of controversy since 2018 and shut down after prolonged protests, violence, and police firing that killed 13 people. 

2. Elections all over again: Israel is heading for a new election. PM Naftali Bennett’s office said he is disbanding his coalition, which lacks a majority in the parliament. 

3. Moosewala shooters held: Delhi police arrested two shooters from Gujarat suspected in the Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala shooting case. They also recovered war-like ammunition from them.  

4. Marital arts expert dies during a live demo: Giridharan Karunanidhi, a martial arts (Kalari Payattu) exponent from Mylapore Chennai, died during a live demonstration on his YouTube channel. 

5. Agnipath scheme gets corporate support: The Tata sons, Mahindra and Mahindra, and the RPG group announced that they support the center’s Agnipath scheme and are willing to recruit Agniveers after their tenure in the armed services. 

6. Over 500 trains canceled: Passengers in many parts of northern India were stranded in railway stations as 587 trains were canceled due to Bharat Bandh announced by Agnipath protestors. 

7. UFlex to make paper straws: Packaging company UFlex plans to produce six billion paper straws annually in India to address the needs of FMCG companies here who are perplexed by the ban on plastic straws. 

8. Fifty percent of Ford employees give up strike: A Ford India official from its Chennai factory said that 50% of the protesting employees have agreed to return to work. Those others continuing with the protests will be facing a loss of pay effective from June 14.

9. Tata Group to invest in new aircraft: Air India is mulling over buying 300 narrow-bodied aircraft to enhance its fleet. The order, once finalized, will be one of the largest in the commercial aviation industry.

10. Bailout talks begin in Sri Lanka: IMF has initiated bailout talks in Colombo. The country, in the meanwhile, has shut down schools and other non-essential government offices.
