1. Adani is the fourth player bidding for the 5G spectrum

Adani group is bidding for 5G Spectrum in India alongside Telecom majors Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea. On Saturday, the group confirmed that it is participating in the auction. 

2. CBE searches Karti’s house in Chennai

CBI resumed searches at Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s house in Chennai. Earlier, the agency sealed a portion of the house as the keys supposedly were with Karti’s wife abroad during the searches. 

3. Rajapaksa to resign amid massive protests

Sri Lankan Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said he would resign to pave the way for an all-party government. Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, too, announced he would step down on Wednesday. 

4. ISRO’s new launchpad in TN

Speaking at a convocation ceremony in Tamil Nadu, ISRO Chairman S Somnath said the space agency would set up a new launchpad with a ground station and tracking systems at Kulasekarapattinam in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. 

5. Eco-sensitive Areas in Karnataka

The Kasturirangan committee has identified 20,000 sq. km in Karnataka’s western ghats region as an Eco-sensitive Area (ESA). State officials referring to notification from the central government said 572 villages in Karnataka spread over ten districts fall within ESA.6. 

6. Effect of Covid delta variant on pregnancy and childbirth

A study based on the PregCovid registry in Maharashtra has indicated that 15% of the children born during the second wave of covid (due to the delta variant) were preterm births (born before 35 weeks).

7. Gunman reveals reason for killing Shinzo Abe

Police have admitted to security flaws at the campaign event at Nara, where the former Japanese PM was shot dead. Meanwhile, the killer, Tetsuya Yamagami, said he resented his mother’s financial ruin due to a religious group. Yamagami believed that Shinzo Abe was promoting the same religious group. 

8. Zelensky fires diplomats

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the dismissal of its senior envoys to several countries without giving a reason. The list includes India and Germany as well. 

9. Assam sees signs of respite after heavy floods

After weeks of heavy torrential rains and flooding, Assam is seeing a respite as rivers are now flowing within the danger levels. However, due to floodwaters 518 villages in 15 districts still remain inundated.

10. At Amarnath rescue site, cop saves many lives before dying

60-year-old former cop, Sushil Katar, who retired just two months ago, jumped into the flash floods and rescued many people. Sadly, he could not save his life won life as he got swept away by a surging tide.
