  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah today took stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir at a high-level meeting in New Delhi, where J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, NSA Ajit Doval, and CoAS Manoj Pande were present.  
  • The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said 2023 was the second warmest year recorded in India after 1901, adding that 2,376 people lost their lives to extreme weather events, of which lightning and thunderstorms caused more than 50% percent of the deaths. 
  • With supply to fuel stations hit due to strike by transporters, people have been queuing up in several places in Punjab and Chandigarh to fill their vehicles, fearing stocks could dry up. Chandigarh administration has temporarily imposed restrictions on how much fuel people can buy.

  • Maharashtra labor ministry has served a notice to IT Major TCS over complaints of forced transfers. Labor union NITE has earlier sought the intervention of the ministry alleging that more than 2000 employees of the firm we transferred without consulting them or providing them adequate lead time. 
  • Google users can now share real-time live locations with their contacts using Google Maps. The feature is available for both Android and iOS, with the option to choose location sharing for one full day or until the user stops location sharing.
