  • Bull taming sport in Tamil Nadu, Jallikattu, has killed two people in Pudukkottai and Madurai districts, one of them an 18-year-old boy. In another incident, a Jallikatttu bull owner was gored to death by his bull when he took it out for a walk. 
  • Atal Setu, India’s longest sea-bridge was inaugurated today by PM Narendra Modi. The 21.8km long Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL), built at a cost of ₹17,840 crore, will connect South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, cutting down the commuting time significantly. 
  • India gets its first Dark Sky Park in Maharashtra’s Pench Tiger Reserve, suitable for stargazers to view dark skies sans light pollution. Sky Park has been certified by the International Dark Sky Association, which promotes astronomy globally. 
  • The Chhattisgarh government has extended an unconditional talk offer to the Maoists, stating it is ready to listen to their “grievances, ideas, and desires.” However, it has also warned that if they fail to engage in a dialogue, they will have to pay for the pain they inflicted on the state’s citizens. 
  • A Bombay HC bench has ordered authorities to file cases against people flying kites using nylon strings or ‘manja.’ The directive says that parents of children using nylon strings should be booked if they were involved in buying them, and shops that sell them should be sealed. 
  • The cleanest cities in India are Indore and Surat, according to the 2023 Annual Urban Cleanliness Ranking. Indore has secured the top spot for the seventh time in a row. Howrah is the dirtiest among cities and municipal areas, with one lakh and above population.
