  • Fresh violence in Manipur killed 13 people when two militant groups exchanged gunshots at Leithu village in the Tengnoupal district. Police are yet to ascertain the identities of those killed. 
  • The Indian Navy celebrated ‘Navy Day’ today (December 4), commemorating Operation Trident, which made a daring attack on Karachi Harbour in the 1971 war in response to Pakistan’s Operation Chengiz Khan. 
  • Cyclone Michaung | Heavy rainfall in Chennai has killed five people. Several areas in the city remain inundated. Operations in Chennai Airport are to stay shut till Tuesday at 9 am. According to IMD, Cyclone Michaung will cross Nellore-Machilipatnam forenoon tomorrow. 
  • In Chennai’s Perungulathur Area, a crocodile was seen roaming on the road during the night. Videos shared by netizens showed the reptile crawling by the side of a road and entering into bushes nearby.
  • In Mizoram, the Lalduhoma-led Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has won 27 seats, dislodging the incumbent Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Front (MNF). MNF has won 10 seats, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) won 2, and Congress one seat. 
  • An IAF Trainer Aircraft, Pilatus PC 7 Mk-II, which took off from Dundigal Air Force Academy, crashed in Ravelli village in Toopran of Medak district. Two IAF pilots lost their lives in the crash.
