  1. At the INDIA alliance meeting in New Delhi, TMC Chief, and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is said to have proposed Mallikarjun Kharge for the PM post. However, Kharge opined there is no point in discussing who would be the PM before having the numbers.
  2. The number of active COVID-19 cases in Kerala has risen to 1,634, with 111 fresh cases reported on Monday. The state also reported one COVID-related death. Meanwhile, with the detection of COVID-19 subvariant JN.1 in Kerala, Karnataka has made masks mandatory for senior citizens with co-morbidities and flu-like symptoms.

  6. The Madras HC has convicted Tamil Nadu State Higher Education Minister Ponmudi and his wife, P Visalakshi, in a disproportionate assets case filed by DVAC in 2011. The DMK minister faces disqualification as an MLA and could lose his ministership if SC doesn’t stay his conviction.
  7. ED has sent a summons to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to appear before it on Thursday. This is the second time Kejriwal has been summoned. In November, he called the summons “illegal” and “politically motivated and went ahead with his party’s election campaign in MP.
  8. The Bombay HC has granted bail to Gautam Navlakha, arrested in the 2018 Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case. He was under house arrest due to health issues. The court granted Navlakha bail on a Rs.1 lakh surety. He is the seventh accused in the case to receive bail.
  9. During the protest over the suspension of MPs, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was seen mimicking VP Jagdeep Dhankar, with Rahul Gandhi shooting the act. Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankar expressed his disapproval, terming it ridiculous and unacceptable.
