1. The government has called for a Special session of Parliament spanning five days from September 5. Sources in the government say the session could be for bills like One Nation – One Election, Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and Women’s Reservation bills. 

2. Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) said it busted a rave party in Madhapur on Wednesday night and has arrested Telugu film financier K Venkataratna Reddy, Ex-Naval Officer B Balaji, and South Central Railway RPF employee D Murali.

3. A gunfight between Meiti and Kuki-Zo communities along the Churachandpur-Bishnupur border, which began on August 29, has killed eight people.

4. After nearly a month-long dry spell in August, monsoon is expected to revive in September, says IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra. Meanwhile, the meteorological department has given rainfall warnings for Andaman and Nicobar, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry.

5. Jaya Verma Sinha is set to become the first-ever woman CEO and Chairperson of the Railway Board. An alumnus of Allahabad University, Ms. Sinha joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1986. 

6. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has tweeted that the Kargil-Zanskar Intermediate Lane, which is getting upgraded, would greatly benefit the local economy. 

7. Two people, Pritpal Singh from Punjab and his associate, were arrested for defacing Delhi metro stations with pro-khalistani graffiti. Police said that Pritpal was promised $7000 by the US-based SFJ handler Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to carry out the act. 

8. As the opposition bloc INDIA’s meeting is underway in Mumbai, the alliance has announced that it would finalize seat sharing among its political members by September 30.

9. The country’s first indigenously developed 700 MW electric (MWe) nuclear power reactor has begun running at its complete capacity at the Kakrapar Nuclear Power Plant (Unit 3 ) in Gujarat. 

10. Royal Enfield’s Iconic bike Bullet 350 is returning in a new avatar to the delight of its loyal customer base. The new generation bullet, expected in 349cc J series engine, will be officially launched tomorrow.
