- The Congress party will hold its Party Presidential polls on October 17. All eyes are on whether Rahul Gandhi will accept the post or the party leadership will elevate a loyalist to the position.
- Akasa Air has suffered a data breach. The airline has self-reported it to CERT_In, adding that the breach is limited to passenger names, email, and phone numbers.
- UGC is launching a portal called ‘e-samadhan’ to address the grievances of students, teaching, and non-teaching staff. The centralized portal will redress reported grievances in a time-bound fashion.

- Twenty-five Indian High Courts have a backlog of 2.5 lakh cases stretching to over two decades, and the total case pendency in all HCs stands at 60 lakh.
- Communist leader and Kerala cabinet minister M V Govindan take charge as the Kerala CPM state secretary. The decision came after Kodiyeri Balakrishnan resigned from the post, citing health reasons.
- Commemorating its 40th anniversary, Japanese auto major Suzuki Motor Corporation said it would make an aggressive investment in the country. It launched an Rs.11,000 crore passenger utility vehicle manufacturing plant at Kharkoda, Haryana, and an Rs.7,300 crore lithium-ion battery-making unit in Hansalpur, Gujarat.
