1. UP ATS arrests suspected JeM man plotting to kill Nupur Sharma: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist has arrested Mohammed Nadeem, an alleged JeM operative with plans to carry out a fidayeen attack on suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. 

2. Third Vande Bharat train flagged off: Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, flagged off the third Vande Bharat semi-high speed train from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. He said by next year’s independence day, 75 such trains would be ready and another 400 in four years.  

3. HC allows BSNL to file fresh arbitration to claim payables from Isha Foundation: Madras High Court has granted liberty to BSNL to move fresh arbitration regarding a sum of Rs.2.50 crore payable by the ISHA Foundation for services it availed from BSNL in 2018 and 2019.

5. Tejashwi Yadav visits Congress and Left leaders: After swearing in as the Deputy CM of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav held meetings with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, leaders of the Left, Sitaram Yechury, and D Raja at the national capital. 

 6. Cinemas to come to Kashmir after 32 years: Srinagar to open its first multiplex in September. Designed by Inox, the three-screen multiplex will have a seating capacity of 520 people. It will also house food courts and other entertainment. 

7. Soil slippage in new dam prompts authorities to move residents downstream to safety in MP: Residents of several villages in the Dhar and Kargone districts of Madhya Pradesh were moved to safer places as seepage was reported from the under-construction dam over the Karam river.

The overarch deck of the world’s highest rail bridge in Kashmir to be complete today: The overarch deck of the world’s highest railway bridge, which stands at an altitude of 359 m from the Chenab river bed, will be completed today with a ‘Golden joint.’ The Golden joint will connect decks of both its arches with high-strength friction bolts.  

9. India urges status quo on Taiwan: Questioned about Taiwan and the ‘One-China’ policy, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India is concerned about the recent developments concerning Taiwan and urged that no unilateral action is taken to alter the status quo.    

10. Australia’s federal court asks Google to pay a penalty of $42.7 m: Google was ordered by Australia’s Federal court to pay a penalty of $42.7 million for misleading android users to believe that through “location history” alone the company collects location data from android phones, while monitoring web and app activity also allows data storage.
