RSS- affiliated farmer body – Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, organized a rally in Ramlila Maidan in the national capital today. BKS had announced that its Kisan Garjana Rally would be held between 11 am and 6 pm, asking the government to implement various relief measures for the farmers.
Following the announcement, Delhi police issued a detailed traffic advisory, stating that as many as 50,000 to 55,000 people are likely to participate in the rally in 700 to 800 buses and 3,500 to 4,000 private vehicles.
The demands placed by BKS include a Minimum Sales Price (MSP) for farm products, rollback of GST on all farming activities, withdrawing permission granted for commercial cultivation of Genetically Modified Crops (GMOs), and raising support price offered by the government under the PM-Kisan Yojana.
The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh had earlier cautioned that “the government will face trouble if it did not heed the farmers’ demand in time.”
