Maharashtra Government withdraws all Covid-19 related restrictions. Relaxations are effective from April 2. 

After a cabinet meeting that was held on Thursday, the Government revoked the Epidemic Diseases Act and Disaster Management Act which remained active for the last two years since the Pandemic began spreading in India. 

A tweet from CMO, Maharashtra read, “All COVID restrictions in Maharashtra lifted, as we bring in the new year this Gudi Padwa!

Health Minister of Maharasthra, Rajesh Tope, has said, “We can’t say that Covid has been eradicated, I request that people wear masks. This will be a choice, it won’t be mandatory anymore.”

As of Wednesday, Maharashtra has registered 119 new cases and two Covid-19 related deaths. However, 138 patients have got discharged after recovering. The active cases in the state now stand at 939.  

Meanwhile, The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has said not wearing a mask in public places will not attract a fine. At the same time, Bengal Government has withdrawn all Covid related restrictions but would continue with masks and maintaining hand hygiene.
