The Congress party leaders met on Sunday for the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting. The party leaders under Mrs. Sonia Gandhi held a four-hour-long brainstorming session on their poor performance in the state elections.

The CWC criticized BJP and cited polarization as the cause for its victory. Also, anti-incumbency and infighting as reasons why the Congress party lost Punjab.

In the meeting, Mrs. Gandhi, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have expressed their wish to resign from their respective posts. However, it was declined unanimously by the CWC. Instead, party leaders requested Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to continue guiding the party.

It appears like reform to the Congress party is limited to enshrining their faith in the Gandhi family. A large section of the CWC members wanted Mr. Rahul Gandhi to take the party’s reigns. The Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and Karnataka Congress President DK. Shivakumar were among those who spoke in favor of Rahul Gandhi.
