In Goa, BJP has performed better than in the 2017 election, in which it scored just 13 seats. Before the elections, there were apparent signs of anti-incumbency in the state. However, the party has raised its tally to 20 out of 40 seats in the current election. BJP’s Goa in-charge Devendra Fadnavis said that his party has support from MGP (2 seats) and three independents.
The Congress party has won 11 seats, TMC and the Aam Aadmi Party 2 seats. However, Shiv Sena has faced a humiliating defeat in Goa. All 10 Sena candidates have lost deposit and secured a mere 0.18% vote share, less than 1.12% of the vote share that went for NOTA.
It is yet to be seen whether CM Pramod Sawant would continue to helm his post or Valpoi MLA Vishwajeet Rane is the new CM face of BJP in Goa. Rane’s meeting with the party in charge, Devendra Fadnavis, has made everyone curious over a possible change in the Chief Ministership.
