Tamil Nadu CM, M K Stalin, was at the inaugural function of the 23rd CPM party congress on Saturday. He was received as the chief guest of the seminar on ‘Center-State Relationship.’
Much to the excitement of Kerala communist party supporters, CM Stalin spoke in Malayalam. Some excerpts from his speech:
“There are many reasons why I’m here. Foremost of all, I consider it my duty to be part of the Communist Party Congress. Also, Sakhavu Pinarayi Vijayan’s affection is one of the main reasons.
Let’s look at it from a historical perspective. The relationship between Tamil Nadu and Kerala from the Ancient Sangam Era is another important reason why I’m participating in this event.
The relationship between the Dravidian and Communist parties has been there for more than 80 years. In 1932, father Periyar translated and published the communist manifesto in Tamil–This, even you must be knowing! And he used to give Lenin and Russian names to kids.
Above all, my name is Stalin (the crowd breaks into thunderous applause). Above all, my name is Stalin (He repeats). More than this, there can be no reason to establish your relationship with me.
I’m not here at the Marxist congress as a Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu or as a party head…
I revere your Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He is not only executing his duties as a Chief Minister well but also remains tall among the Chief Ministers of India.
State rights, equality, secularism, fraternity, and women’s rights are Sakha Pinarayi Vijayan’s face. The communist party congress held at Kannur is a fertile land of bravery…”
Further, CM Stalin spoke about how India is a land of unity in diversity and criticized the BJP Government at the center for disturbing the basic fabric of the country. He also spoke about federalism and state rights.
_It may be noted that several freedom fighters from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the adjacent Karnataka were lodged in the Kannur prison during the fight for Indian independence from the British._
