The test positivity rate in Mumbai has gone up to six percent, raising an alarm of a fresh wave of Coronavirus spread. According to BMC, daily Covid 19 cases have gone up with the monsoon round the corner.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged officials to increase testing on a war footing. It has also asked private hospitals and testing labs to be fully prepared, and well-staffed to address any looming rise in hospitalization.

BMC has also asked authorities to aggressively push the vaccination drive for booster shots and the 12-18 age category. The readiness measures taken up by the civic body include reviving ward-level war rooms by equipping them with adequate support staff, medical teams, and ambulances. And, in the event of a spurt in hospitalization, the jumbo hospital in Malad will be given priority.
