India on Saturday witnessed a significant drop in the Daily Covid-19 cases, falling below the 50,000 mark. The third Coronavirus wave peaked on January 20 with 3.5 lakh cases has been declining twice faster than the second wave. In mere 17 days, the cases have dropped to 22.3%. Notably, it took 36 days during the second wave and 103 days during the first wave for a similar drop.

Among the states, Kerala is still registering the highest number of daily cases and Covid fatalities in India. However, its daily positivity rate has been steadily falling over the last few days.

With a drastic fall in numbers, the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu is removing many restrictions, including reopening KG schools for children. In addition, hotels, restaurants, gyms, malls, theatres, showrooms, salons, and indoor sports events are to be allowed with 100% occupancy.
