In a joint operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Indian Navy seized drugs worth 2000 crores off the coast of Gujrat.

It was a raid on the high seas. With intelligence inputs from NCB to the Naval Intelligence Unit, the agencies teamed up to confiscate a foreign ship carrying more than one type of drug. The vessel was heading towards an Indian port before its transit to another country. Since the investigation is underway, further details are yet to come.

Another drug-related story comes from Andhra Pradesh, where Police destroyed seized contraband, Ganja, weighing about 2 lakh kg. It was heaped into 13 huge piles and set on fire in a secluded place away from human habitation.

DGP Gautam Sawang said that the Government would encourage tribal farmers to give up the illegal cultivation of Ganja crops. He assured that they would receive market price for any alternate crop they cultivate. He also noted that the Police had placed 110 checkpoints to stop the transportation of Ganja.
