The iconic moped of the seventies in the Indian market, which remained a generation’s symbol of easy mobility, is coming back. And the news of its arrival has kindled nostalgic memories among netizens who grew up seeing and riding the moped.
In sync with the present day, the Luna will be all-electric. Kinetic Engineering (KEL) will launch the moped through its Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions.
KEL is building the new e-Luna at its Ahmednagar plant. It now has a dedicated production line with an initial capacity to make 5000 units a month. A new welding line with 30 machines, an upgraded Paint shop, and Press and Fabrication shops are also in place to bring out the brand-new e-Luna.
KEL is developing all the major sub-assemblies of the electric Luna — the Main chassis, Side and Center stands, and Swinging arm. Speaking on this, Ajinkya Firodia, managing director of Kinetic Engineering said, “We are very proud to be making all the major sub-assemblies of the same and be a part of this legacy. At its peak, Luna was selling over 2000 numbers a day. I am sure it will do very well in its new avatar.”
For those not aware, Kinetic Luna was launched in India by Kinetic Engineering as a 50cc moped in 1972.
